The Frank Castiglione Memorial Scholarship

About The Geronimo Foundation

The Geronimo Foundation, Inc. is committed to the importance of meaningful history lessons in middle school and high school. Our college scholarship is awarded annually to college-bound seniors who show a love of history and learning.

Our Scholarship

The Geronimo Foundation, Inc. wants students to continue their passion for social studies beyond high school and reward those who show a dedication to learning history.

We are proud to sponsor the Frank Castiglione Memorial Scholarship for one graduating senior each year. The scholarship is paid directly to the recipient.

In order to apply, you must:

  1. Plan to attend an accredited post-secondary institution next year.
  2. Complete at least 3 social studies or history classes in high school.
  3. Have the recommendation of a social studies/history teacher.
  4. Submit your application and recommendation by April 1st.
  5. Stay tuned for a winner announced by May 1st.

How To Apply

Students: You can access the online scholarship application here. The application requires either a written or video essay.  You will need to submit an essay in which you answer the question:

What was the most meaningful lesson or activity you experienced in a history class, and how did it change the way you see yourself or the world around you?

We’re not looking for a history report. We want to hear your story. How did this lesson shape your understanding of the past, inspire your goals for the future, or help you see yourself or others differently? Be honest, be personal, and tell us how history has made a difference in your life

As you work on your application (or after), please direct a history teacher of yours to this page to complete the recommendation form instructions. You should have at least 1 and no more than 3 teacher recommendations.

PS. Tag us on Instagram or Facebook when you complete your application!
